Heating and cooling for your home

From a furnace that clicks and won't light to a whole-house heat pump — repairs, replacements and the yearly check in between.

What we do in homes

Repairs

Furnaces, wall heaters, heat pumps, air conditioners and ductless units. We tell you what failed and what it costs before we fix it.

Heat pumps

One outdoor unit that heats in winter and cools in summer. Often the simplest way to add cooling to a house that only ever had a furnace.

Ductless

For an addition, a converted garage, an upstairs bedroom or any room the ducts don't reach.

Tune-ups and air

An autumn check of burners, safety controls and airflow; filters, thermostats and ventilation for cleaner indoor air.

Repair or replace?

We give you both prices when both make sense. A few things that usually tip it:

  1. Age

A furnace past twenty years or an AC past fifteen usually costs more to keep than to replace.

  2. Repeat calls

Second big repair in two years? Time to look at the numbers together.

  3. Comfort

If some rooms never get warm, a new system can fix that; a repair can't.

  4. Cooling

If you want AC anyway, a heat pump replaces the furnace and adds cooling in one job.

Before we come

  • Clear a path to the furnace, closet or attic hatch
  • Note any codes or blinking lights on the thermostat
  • Find the outdoor unit and check nothing is piled against it
  • Tell us about pets so we can close the door behind us
